This might be very petty but the ugly animations, interface and invasive gamification system made me hate using Duolingo to the point I deleted my account.
Memrise is better in my memory, I may give it another whirl for Russian and Spanish

Ruski is fucking hard. they speak in some mumbo jumbo slavic mixed with english words. I literally have to read every one fo their sentences in bulgarian first, then single out the english words and try to make up the context of the sentence. niggas could just speak bulgarian like normal people.

You can go to the language board and find a polish thread there. Maybe you'll find a partner.

People shit on duolingo but It's nice for expanding my vocabulary. The gamification fucking sucks but at least it reminds me to do something every day.
I would learn the alphabet elsewhere since that part really sucks about duolingo. There's a bunch of apps on the android app store that help with this, some even help you learn cursive letters.
Other than that I can recommend mirrored books like pic related, the translation is not 1:1 which kinda sucks but the texts use simple words so it wasnt hard to get through.
I'm still not ready to reply but I feel like im slowly getting there.

yeah, was not too difficult to learn tho I cheated. Since Serbian is basically the same language as Croatian yet they use cyrillic I just forced myself to read a mid sized Serbian book and after 100 pages or so you're already pretty good at it.
